When you enter a domain in a browser, DNS helps the browser find the server that should answer. Two related pieces of DNS often get mixed up: nameservers and the records inside the zone they serve.

Nameservers choose who manages DNS

Your domain registrar publishes a set of nameservers for the domain. Those nameservers are the authority for its DNS records. If you set ns1.hostkaira.online and ns2.hostkaira.online for a domain, Host Kaira can manage that domain's records after the change appears at the registry. Editing records at the previous DNS provider will no longer change the live answer once the delegation has moved.

A nameserver change is separate from adding a website to hosting. Your domain can point at our DNS while the website itself has not yet been created. In that case, the name may resolve but the web server will not have your content. Add the website in your account and upload an index page to make it useful to visitors.

Common record types

An A record maps a name to an IPv4 address. An AAAA record does the same for IPv6. A CNAME record points a name to another name, often used for www. An MX record directs email delivery; Host Kaira does not currently offer hosted email, so keep any email records with your chosen email provider. TXT records hold text used by many verification and security services.

The TTL tells recursive resolvers how long an answer can be cached. A short TTL can help when you expect to change records, but it cannot force every cache to update instantly. The registry's nameserver change and individual record changes may become visible at different times.

If your domain does not open

First check that the spelling is correct. Then look up the domain's NS and A records using a public DNS tool. If the nameservers still show your old provider, check the registrar settings. If the right nameservers appear but queries time out, the authoritative DNS server may not be reachable. If the A record is correct but the browser shows an empty or error page, check that the website was created and its files were published.

Host Kaira's free DNS lookup tool can show the public answers for several record types. Use it together with the status shown in your domain dashboard, and contact support if the answers do not match what you saved.
